To forgive an injury is often considered to be a sign of weakness. However, it is actually a sign of strength. It is pretty easy to get carried away, by resentment and hatred, into an act of vengeance. But, it demands a really strong character to refrain from those natural instincts. A magnanimous person forgives an injury or an insult. He, thus, proves himself to be the superior to the person who has wronged him. He puts the wrong-doer to embarrassment. Forgiveness may even turn a foe into a friend. Legends rightly say – blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
